My fiance and I are buying a home in central florida. I know allstate is one insurance company that covers florida, but my concern is my dogs. We have 2 our one is labled (on their rabies lisence) a dalmation mix and the other a beagle/pit mix! We are truly unsure of eithers actual breed they are both heintz 27′s but I have a feeling this is gonna cause a problem when trying to find homeowners insurance.

Does anyone know allstates policy…or have information about an insurance company in florida that does cover mixes?
neither of my dogs are aggressive, and in the beggining we were not sure of either breed. They are mutts and wonderful dogs…have never ever even attempted to hurt anyone, they are 3 & 4 years old! If I even thought for a second that they were aggressive I wouldnt have them….thats not because of their breed either…! If I had a poodle who was mean I wouldnt have it! Simple as that!

I’ll try to make this as short as possible…

We (Hubby & myself) have temporarily moved in with my parents due to arrangements regarding another rental unit not working out as planned. Anyway… As a result, we have also rented a storage unit for the majority of our belongings.

Getting to the point… There was a recent down-pour here, and more than half of our household was drenched. The storage owner had the audacity to offer us . Then, after we declined, he said that he would consider more if we (himself, myself, & my husband) together inspected every item to see if it is defective or not.

Inspecting each item is insane: 3 DVD players, a DVD recorder, a VCR, 2 TVs, 300+ DVDs, 100+ CDs, several VHS tapes, surge protectors, cables/cords/connections, a tape recorder, a stereo, ….The list is HUGE…

And he (owner) claimed that a judge would ask the same (that everything be itemized & tested). Sounds like bull schit to me. But, while I’m familiar with many aspects of the law, property damage is something that I’ve never gotten into.

We have photos of wet spots, of horribly damaged boxes, of the roofers on the roof of our storage rental unit on the day after our complaint, etc…

What do you guys think? Any advice/input?

I got a Claim check because damage my car sustained during a hail storm. My question: Can I cash the check & purchase the replacement parts to fix myself or do I have to use the check to have a Body Shop fix it? Also can I trade my car in and use the claim check as a down payment toward another car?
I am financing the car, it isnt paid off yet

I filled out a couple quotes from esurance.com and allstate and i got like 00 & 00 premium 6 month payment. Does that mean its going to cost me that much for insurance for only 6 months? If so, that is insane. That would be 0-0 dollars a month. That cannot be real. My dad gave me a quote from Allstate(thats what he has) and it was about 7.00/Mth for a Chevy Blazer for 18 Year Old First Driver. I am very new to the whole insurance thing so can someone just point me in a small direction to the lowest priced insurance with good plans. I would absolutely love to have an older car(oldsmobile, or between 60s&80s)But thats way to pricy, along with a nice sports vehicle. Because of the gas mileage and decent look, i would like a Chevy Convert Tracker. Just give me some advice if you know what im talking about.

I live in a neighborhood that was established in 2002. Currently, 460 of 500 homes have been completed. Our covenants state that the developer has 5 votes per lot, while the homeowner has 1 vote per lot, and the association is eligible to be run by the homeowner upon majority of votes (which we now have).

The developer turned the association over to a management company about a year & a half ago. This company has not performed to the satisfaction of the residents, and we would like control of the association. However, the management company said they would not consider turning over the association until ALL houses had been sold.

Question: What steps should we take to "force the issue"?

I am currently considering:
1. Calling a neighborhood meeting.
2. Collecting signatures (of intent to assume the association).
3. Soliciting a list of candidates for a transition committee (or for a board of directors).

Is there a legal process?

I have gone uninsured for over a few months in Iowa due to being dead broke & am looking into getting coverage again….are there any companies that offer lower penalties than most or no penalties at all? Can an insurance company even check for themselves if you have had previous coverage or do they just rely on your word? If so….tempting lol. Also are there any other options im not thinking of? This would be for a private residence. With the cost could you tell me the approximate value being insured. I could use prices for both Orlando and Miami.

I thought I just read that it is hard or impossible to get now. I am not looking to buy any, I am just curious about some rough numbers.
I am really looking for a number. I am trying to figure out the approximate payback period if a home is constructed as a Category 5 hurricane structure.

FYI A Cat 5 structure is 6 inch poured concrete with #6 and #4 rebar. Cat 3 is concrete block with #6 every 5 feet or so with rebar cells filled with concrete. The other big difference will be the roof will be steel and concrete vs wood truss & shingle.
Can’t someone just give me an example that they know of.
