Here’s the deal. I’ve recently paid off my house so I am NO LONGER bound to buy homeowners insurance… However, I really don’t want to "risk it all"… I am a VERY frugal person and looking to SAVE MONEY in any way possible. It was by my frugality that I was able to pay off the house.
That said I am looking for a policy that covers the "sticks and bricks", but I don’t really care about contents because much of my stuff I bought at garage sales and flea markets etc.
So if the "whole thing burns down or blows away", I just want the money of what my home is worth OR for them to rebuild it. I don’t care about the contents at all.
I just want it to be CHEAP!!!! I live in Texas. What kinds of policies should I be looking for?

My fiance and I are buying a home in central florida. I know allstate is one insurance company that covers florida, but my concern is my dogs. We have 2 our one is labled (on their rabies lisence) a dalmation mix and the other a beagle/pit mix! We are truly unsure of eithers actual breed they are both heintz 27′s but I have a feeling this is gonna cause a problem when trying to find homeowners insurance.
Does anyone know allstates policy…or have information about an insurance company in florida that does cover mixes?
neither of my dogs are aggressive, and in the beggining we were not sure of either breed. They are mutts and wonderful dogs…have never ever even attempted to hurt anyone, they are 3 & 4 years old! If I even thought for a second that they were aggressive I wouldnt have them….thats not because of their breed either…! If I had a poodle who was mean I wouldnt have it! Simple as that!
WE HAVE HAD THEM SINCE PUPPIES!

If you get homeowners insurance that should cover many things. Whereas fire insurance only covers that one thing.

I live in Allen, TX and have a shared fence line dispute with my neighbors contractor (not my neighbor). Initially the contractor felt we had a verbal contract for my roof and fence line (i never felt we did) and upon declining his services i indicated that we needed to discuss what repairs would be performed with myself and my neighbors shared fence line . Those discussions never occurred until after the contractor replaced the entire fence line as well and upgraded it to a higher quality product. Now the contractor is billing me for half of those costs ( a foot) and threatening legal action if not paid in full. I had no problem splitting the costs of the needed repairs with my neighbor (again my neighbors are not requesting funds), but at no point in time was i provided from my neighbor or the contractor with an estimate or date of this fence replacement. My question is what is my legal obligation to the contractor under this scenario if neither my homeowners insurance or myself ever agreed that this section of fencing needed to be replaced? The hang up is that he keeps claiming we had a verbal contract who he has a witness to, yet it’s my opinion that we never made any formal agreement at any point in our discussions on what materials, costs, or time frame the job would be performed in (he’s claiming i verbally agreed to have him discuss those details with the insurance adjuster under our apparent verbal contract).
To answer the questions asked.
1) he met with my insurance adjuster (all state) per his request which i allowed when i first filed my claim.
2) The posts are on their side but i’m not aware specifically who’s property the fence is on, the HOA acknowledges it as their fence
3) I contacted my neighbor prior to the fence being replaced and they indicated he was paid and needing nothing from me.
4) i didn’t bother to stop the fence replacement as per #3 nothing was discussed with me and i was under the impression payment had been made ….it was until 2 weeks later i was invoiced

under Perry Texas is projected to end up in the bottom 5 of every national educational evaluation standard available. The only industry in Texas that is growing and has been growing by leaps and bounds is the state prison system. Furthermore, because of Rick Perry’s efforts to eliminate regulations on insurance companies in the state of Texas it’s projected that many Texans will end up with their homeowners insurance claiming "Act of God" status and they will end up homeless.
And this is the guy Republicans think is going to win? Seroiusly, did you people just say "Let’s just go ahead and find the biggest asshole we can! We know we aren’t going to win anyways."
Do you think Texans will be glad to find out that it’s market deregulation that allows the insurance company to hide behind that "Act of God" status and that they now have the freedom to spend what few remaining dollars they have trying to find a lawyer who’s willing to pursue a civil case that’s basically guaranteed to fail in a Texas court?

My uncle was involved in a bar fight and now may get sued by the people that he was in the fight with. He is scared of losing his home but has homeowners insurance that covers lawsuits, but I think it is if someone gets hurt at his home. Does insurance cover lawsuits that occurred outside your home?

My husband and I are about to start the short sale process and starting this month we are not and cannot afford to make our mortgage payments anymore. Our Homeowners insurance is paid for through escrow…what happens when we stop paying our mortgage payments? Should we contact our insurance agent and switch to direct billing or does this all get covered in the short sale? We are projecting being in our home at least 6 months before we get an offer (due to winter approaching). I have looked all over online and get mixed answers. Just want to to do. Thanks
