My apartment unit just caught on fire yesterday, and only the entire kitchen burned down, everything else is covered with soot, and there are couple smoke damages on the wall. I don’t think my family bought the renter’s insurance. But the landlord, who owns my apartment unit and many other, has insurance. My main concern is that will I have to pay for the house damage (the burned kitchen, cabinets, carpets, appliances) that originally belong to the house? Will this matter whether the fire was caused by negligence or simply pure accident? I am willing to pay for my own property loss. It’s just the cost of restoring everything will be a major impact.

Hi,
I am renting a house and the wind took the roof off, now all my contents are soaked, some of the electronics will not be salvageable.
I do not have my own contents insurance. Since the damage was done due to damage to the property, is my landlord responsible?
Please only answers that are applicable in the UK

My landlord has apparently abandoned the property that I am renting. I was in the process of finding another dwelling when I recieved papers in the mail stating that he is being sued for non payment of property taxes dating back to 2005! The paper also stated that payment arrangements can be made in order to avoid court proceedings. If I pay the taxes is it correct that he has 90-120 days to repay me or he forfiets the property over to me?

On October first my fiance and I moved into a condo that we will be renting, on Saturday October 9th the tenant in the unit above us had their washer line burst and caused severe water damage to our condo. We came home to find water in heavy streams coming from almost every vent in the ceiling, running down and through the walls, and flooding the floors, our landlord came over immediately while we desperatley tried to find the tenant above us as they were not home when this happened and the water could not be shut off, finally after about an hour that tenant came home and shut of the water, by then it was much too late. The ceiling was leaking profusely, there was severe bubbling in the walls, and about 6 inches of water lay on the floor. Fast forward a few hours and a restoration company arrived and immediatley began ripping down the ceiling, walls, and flooring making our new home uninhabitable.. Since Saturday night was have pretty much been "homeless", our landlords put us up in a hotel but only thru tonight, the condo is ripped apart and there is absolutley no way we could live there. Our renters insurance does not cover us staying somewhere, and the homeowners insurance for the person that caused the damage won’t help us either, we are stuck.. I am 6 and a half months pregnant and I need a place to stay, but apparently after tonight we have no where. I am wondering if anyone know what rights we have? I feel like we are the victims but there is no help for us.
* Also in the condo association handbook it states washers should be hooked up using braided lines due to water pressure, it’s required. The tenant above was using rubbers hoses, that is believed to be the cause of the line bursting.

bodily injury to another tenant. The false allegation was made by another tenant that wants my office space. Can I be legally evicted based on a false allegation made by another tenant? The landlord sent me an eviction notice today. There is no proof of bad behavior or any evidence of this at all. I have been a loyal tenant for 12 years and the tenant has been there for one year but the tenant despises me and they are close friends.

A pipe burst in the apartment I am renting in the Florida, it caused flooding throughout the apartment which has carpet flooring. I called the landlord immediately and she called a water removal company which arrived two hours later and placed fans and a dehumidifier in the apartment for a couple of days already. The landlord got his homeowners insurance to inspect the apartment and then called me to inform that they will pay for any hotel expense and food expense we incur. Also the insurance company is going to take 3 weeks to decide if they will replace the flooring in the apartment. I have a couple questions. Even though his insurance company is paying for a hotel, should I still be paying rent? If the insurance company does not replace the carpet , does the landlord need to change it because of mold issues? Is this fair what should I do? I am not living in the apartment I paid rent for and currently living at my friends, which is inconvenient am I entitled to anything? Thanks You!

My husband and I rent a kind of run down house with a landlord who refuses to do anything about our leaky basement and mice problem…We can’t afford a nice big house right now–but, we can afford some nice 2 bedroom condos. It would only be about 0-0 more per month–including fees, insurance etc. (which is doable)
Is it a good idea for us to buy a condo now, or just stick it out here and buy a nice house in a few years??
Yes I do want one–anythings better then where we are now I think

I own my trailer and my lot landlord called and said he was going to be doing an "in home inspection". We told him that he cannot come in the trailer since we own it, but he can do an inspection of the lot we are renting from him. Just wondering if he has the right to come in my home.
