Hello. My father was working on the roof and fell off from there. His feet are injuried and he will have to sit in the wheelchair for 3 months. I read about Personal Liability in his insurance policy, but I am not clear if this will cover his medical cost. Any information will be helpful. I can’t contact my agency right now, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. My insurance claim department are not licensed to give me any information.
We do not have any health insurance at all. The family is under a great stress because we have no idea how to pay off the medical bill. My parents do not qualify for Medicare because they are not US citizens. Is there any assistance for medical bills for legal citizens?

I was recently in an accident and my lawyer started talking about how much I should ask for. I just wanted some different opinions since I’m only 19 and I don’t want the insurance to play me for a fool and low ball me. I went deaf in one ear permanently, my neck bones completely crushed together and changed position and altered my posture. Also my lower and upper back ache constantly and I have constant headaches, sometimes really bad. The insurance took nearly a month to even tell me if they were going to cover my medical bills so I didn’t go to the doctor for a month. I’ve been subscribed some pain medication and the doctor said I’m going to need therapy for a year or more and might have to go see a specialist.
I was just wondering:
How much should I ask for when they ask me, as pertaining to my injuries? I’ve never gone through any of this before.
Should I include pain and suffering or how does that even work?
How long do these things usually take to settle? I’m working with the other persons AAA insurance.
Thanks!

My mom got rear-ended and her arm hurts terribly. The other party’s insurance knows that there was injury involved. What steps should we take from here on out? Do we need to get a lawyer? Will they cover all the medical bills? How does that work?

I have been making cobra insurance payments and only need the insurance until December, if I stop making payments and I don’t need anymedical coverage during that time, is that ok? In other words if I stop making the payments can I make up the back payments should I have medical bills come up?

I was involved in an auto accident, was not my fault. The person who hit me died & his policy limit was only ,000 which won’t even cover my medical bills. My lawyer says basically I am left with the medical because I don’t have under-insured motorist, I only have uninsured and I don’t know the difference. He sent me this in a letter, I have called to meet with him next week. But in the mean time does this mean all I can get is ,000 and I will be stuck with the rest to pay myself. I know normally I could sue the person but he passed in the accident and he wasn’t married I know that. I "heard" he didn’t have a house in his name but did have life insurance he left to someone as a beneficary…could I be able to go after that? Also just to add, I am very upset b/c this person was exceeding the speed limit by 3 times & yes I know he died but he was at fault here I am going through all this pain, surgery, mental anguish, missing tons of work & I can’t even get all my medical
bills payed little on not being able to get any pain and suffering and money back from me missing work. What can I do…besides go crazy??
Just to add….I never knew what the policy limits meant, I only thought that was to pay for someone else if an accident was my fault…never knew I could use it to help me…

I was involved in an auto accident the first week of August. I was rear-ended & the other persons insurance company has accepted 100% liability, they called today wanting to settle on the property damages (my car was totaled) So after I do that the only thing left will be the bodily injury (which my doctor has set me up for physical therapy) so I know it want be settled for at least 8 weeks. I have heard that sometimes the medical bills are more than the other persons policy limits & I may have to file a claim with my own insurance in order to not pay out of pocket myself. Is this true? Reason I am asking is I was thinking of canceling my car insurance since car is totaled but if I cancel the insurance would I still be able to make a claim with them? Also let me add that I called my insurance company the day after it happened to let them know, I explained I would be filing on the other persons insurance, they said that was ok. I need advice. Thanks.
****GREAT answers so far…THANKS…but one more question, based on the opinions here I will NOT cancel my insurance b/c yes I do plan on getting another car SOON…after I set the new car up can I take the old car off and still be covered if I need anything from them based on the accident? Thanks.

I’m new to this whole insurance process. Do I have to buy health insurance or does the motorcycle insurance I have from GEICO cover my medical bills if I were in a crash?

So suppose a high school stupidly decides to open school during a major snow storm. If the student doesn’t come to school, they are punished. So suppose the student drives to school, and gets into a major accident, severely injuring him. The cause of the accident is determined to be driving when the roads were unsafe. It is determined that the driver took all possible and necessary precautions to avoid the accident. No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. Is the Board of Education for that particular school liable for the medical bills for that students family?

A lot of people say 3x medical bills, but My medical bills aren’t that high. I opted to go to a real Dr. instead of the creepy ones recomended by the attorney. I have been seeing a Dr. for about 2 months. The pain is getting better, but not gone.

I’m self employed and have been paying nearly 0/mo. for years with almost no claims(my family has been really healthy)until now. Since diagnosed with colon cancer about 6 weeks ago my medical bills have totaled almost ,000. Glad to have insurance now. My insurance is with a major realible company, the largest in my state in fact.
